Sansa e200 Series

Sandisk Sansa e200 Series is: e250, e260, e270, e280 and e200R Rhapsody Series.

This page contains links to various informative pages that I found after I got my Sansa. They havn't been updated since, except to rectify a few innacuracies and changes, but they can hopefully be usefull to anyone trying to get more out of their device. Personally I think your best move is to install Rockbox on it, linked below. It's an open-source alternative to the Original Firmware (OF) that comes with the player. Even if it is called a "replacement", you can still boot into the original firmware by holding down the left key while the device is booting.

Watch out! I heard there is a v2 out there. These links are for v1, no guarentee they will work on v2. HOW TO IDENTIFY A v2. Rockbox for v2 is a Work In Progress as of this writing.

Skinning (Themes)

Just a summary of the thread on anythingbutipod, it covers making skins. The iRiver players and e200 have very similiar firmware (mi4 files), since they use the same portalplayer PP5024 chips. There's a program called H3Mod by Lord Julius that can modify the images in the mi4 files. After downloading it (requires .NET framework 1.1) you must also download the reference files for the sansa e200 and extract them in the same directory as the program. Then obtain the mi4 file and place it in the h3mod folder. One way to get it is by downloading it. Make sure you select the most recent version, and the right locality. Now open it in h3mod! Yay. Everything else is nicely detailled in the help file. Press F1. Instructions on applying the theme is in my bookmarks.

Recovery Mode

Ah nevermind, that's in the "Hints and tricks". Read it.
